Jack Layton's Star Trek past: Where No NDP Leader Has Gone Before

A bit of local fare for a minute here, as this is too good to pass up.
Believe this originally goes back to some digging up by writers at Maclean's and the Toronto Star in 2009, this is a pic of none other than New Democratic Party Leader Jack Layton, in a Star Trek TNG costume of all things (and with hair, but that's another matter).  Circa 1991 Toronto, at a Star Trek convention.  Star Trek was SkyDome big!

NDP Leader Jack Layton, Star Trek Convention, Toronto,Canada 1991
His politician wife Olivia Chow even confirmed that this is not a photoshop job either.  Amazing.
Relevant, other than the funny geek Trek connection, in that Jack Layton is currently riding an election campaign wave in Canada to levels one could say no NDP Leader Has Gone Before.

This by no means indicates I or any of the contributors to YC! are voting NDP in the upcoming Canadian Federal Election.

Still Funny: Walmart Clown Commercial

Filing under 'why didn't we post this earlier' and 'can't find the post, surely we posted it' -- this viral Walmart ad about cheap party supplies and birthday clowns is a legend.  And it's still pretty funny.  This came up in some conversation recently about 'commoner' Kate Middleton's not-so-common family of party-supply company owning rich people. That's about all I'll say about that.

EDIT: Found the link on FB to the "official" Walmart channel one. Nya nya nya.

Empire Strikes Back in Iconoscope - Star Wars Episode V Infographic

Wayne Dorrington continues his epic 'iconoscope' visualization infographic style with Star Wars - this time tackling Empire.  It is a significantly more daunting task than A New Hope because of the amount of stuff that goes on in the movie!  He split it up into two images it's so big... see if you can follow along. (note: requires having seen the whole movie in its entirety, or well, you could stop after the first image..spoiler alert blah blah)

SNL Celebrity Jeopardy - The Complete Glorious History (in videos!)

Much beloved SNL skit series from arguably one of the golden eras of the long running show is Celebrity Jeopardy.  Created by Norm MacDonald, who's rearing his head on TV again via Comedy Central's Sports Show, the skit featured a number of memorable characters like Sean Connery (played by Darrell Hammond) and found a way to include impressions from the cast and guests of the show into numerous sketches.  Who can forget some classic Will Ferrell moments as Alex Trebek too.
FunnyOrDie has posted all the skits for viewing, freeing them from the clutches of region-blocking NBC hell!

Start with one of our faves - featuring classic Sean Connery's "Suck it Trebek" and check out others whenever you're looking for a laugh.

Angry Birds x Star Wars: Angry Rebels vs Imperial Pigs

Check out these Angry Birds x Star Wars spoof shirts.  Funny stuff.
Andrew was going to share earlier but couldn't decide if it was Cheese-worthy.  What sealed the deal was when we were looking at the pic, I questioned "Who's the Blue guy?".  Still can't figure it out...Obi-Wan is only guess....doesn't say anywhere...  Post ideas in comments.

Angry Rebels

There's more!
Check out the Imperial Pigs too

Colbert performs Rebecca Black's "Friday" on Jimmy Fallon

The so-called Fallon-Colbert Project to raise money for DonorsChoose.org ended with Colbert unveiling a 'glorious' performance of Rebecca Black's "Friday" with of course, The Roots on band duty and some surprises.  Colbert infiltrating Fallon and the big-latenight sphere with his extra dose of madness.  Amazing.  Too crazy not to post really.

Obama: Hey man, can I borrow your computer?

Should have clicked this last week -- pretty funny. Does the President of the United States of America have a computer?

Edit: This probably won't be the only Obama video you'll see around today.  Though it will be the funnier one.
